Gina Rowlands - American Fashion Icon

There is something about Gena Rowlands. Recently I have seen the Tempest for at least third time in two years. It is a light, modern adaptation of Shakespeare's play by one of my favorite, yet very underrated director - Paul Mazursky. What keeps inspiring me about this beautiful and funny/sad movie, besides a paradise island landscape, is brilliance of Gena Rowlands.

She is a reminder for me, an image consultant in training, that  wearing clothes that fit perfectly is crucial to confident and successful image. What matters as well is a hair style flattering your face shape and knowledge of your colors; etc. However, what is quintessential for successful personal image is how we carry ourselves in everyday life and how true we are to ourselves in the fashion choices we make.

Gena Rowlands' presence on screen is electrifying. She is a strong, confident woman who knows her style's strengths and uses her image to be completely the character she was supposed to play.

Despite being an obvious American beauty, she is so different than any other Hollywood star, fashion icon of the big screen. She is not a gamine like Audrey Hepburn; not  as sexy and sporty as Katharine Hepburn and not as openly alluring as Marilyn Monroe. She is very elegant  and very comfortable in her fashion choices. Just look at the strong colors, like gold and green on the pictures above, that helped to emphasized her eyes and hair color.

Knowing who you are and what you want to accentuate and camouflage is the beginning of the journey to discover your own unique personal fashion style.
Gina Rowlands mastered that with great charm.
Those who need any assistance with discovering their own successful look can count on the image consultants.

What is your personal style and
who is the fashion icon you look up to?
