GILLIAN ANDERSON - WOMAN OF THE HOUR
Gillian as Blanche in A Streetcar Named Desire, St. Ann's Warehouse

There is something undeniably seductive about Chicago native, Gillian Anderson. I was not into her when she was playing Agent Scully on X-Files, as I was too childish to focus on her and more interested in David Duchovny. However, I found myself head over hills in love with detective Stella Gibson, the role Anderson plays in the British TV series The Fall. She is sort of detached, profoundly enigmatic, undeniably sexy and seductive and despite the fact that she is great at her job, her character is not deprived of human flaws. If you have not seen these dark and addictive crime series, please do!

In the last few years, Gillian Anderson played leading roles on stage and in television. Now, New Yorkers have an opportunity to see her playing Blanche in A Streetcar Named Desire, which has just opened at St. Ann's Warehouse in Dumbo, Brooklyn. This post was supposed to be written after I would see the performance on May 9th (Amazing birthday gift from my dear friend!). However, I could not resist writing about it this weekend, as maybe some of you will catch an opportunity to see it as soon as possible. The tickets are running low fast. (The show opens officially tomorrow and continues until June 4th.)

From a fashion journalist, it is hard not to notice that Gillian Anderson's style has undergone quite a dramatic transformation in last few years. I love her being blonde as it really highlights her features. She is a queen of minimal dressing and looks great in neutrals and simple cuts, as well as ultra feminine dresses. I love the editorial with Anderson for Edit magazine from January 2016, which shows how to dress in a sophisticated but simple way with minimum accessories and neutral colors and look ravishingly seductive and classy at the same time.

As Gillian Anderson portrays a very complicated and passionate woman in A Streetcar Named Desire, I decided to let my imagination go into more theatrical direction and created a fashion capsule consisting of red, provocative maxi dress, perfect for big Summer occasions, with simple black sandals and a stylish clutch. The theater where the play is running is located in one of my favorite parts of Brooklyn. Therefore, if before or after the spectacle for the eyes, you would like to have an excellent meal, I highly recommend Vinegar Hill House, the restaurant which is truly a Brooklyn hidden gem.

I cannot wait to see Gillian Anderson on the Brooklyn stage next weekend and share my experience with you!
