The trend of the Milan Fashion Week AW16 that really resonated with me was the eclectic combination of grunge and very feminine and romantic feel on the runways. There are so many reasons for which grunge era is very close to my heart and soul. (Just look at the mood board below; with one exception, the inspiration from the British TV Show "Desperate Romantics," which is not from the nineties. However, it is a  portrayal of a group of Pre-Raphaelite poets in the nineteenth century, the real grunge "generation" of their times.) The relationship between music sub-cultures and fashion is a tricky one. When grunge happened, the dirtier, the less fancy, the more "I don't care look," the less "polished" sound, was the best. With inspirations from punk and goth music and now grunge so visible in the modern fashion, it's easy to make clothes which look so-last-season, too haute-couture, too shiny but not exactly up-to-date.

Luckily, designers like Alberta Ferretti and Fausto Puglisi succeeded without showing clothes which simply reflect the grunge era. Their designs are edgy, but not too dramatic; modern but with a soft feminine touch; not strictly casual neither too formal; very street-fashion inspired. 2016 marks the comeback of the 90's nostalgia with the new episodes of Twin Peaks in the making and Courtney Love publishing her memoir and having her signature collection designed for Nasty Gal. I cannot wait to see what's next. In the meantime, I enjoy dreaming about black dresses from Needle & Thread,  which made me think about the vocalist of the 90's band, Elastica, a fantastic collection from David Michael, which can make you feel that nineties are so back! Finally, nobody can re-interpret music related trends more skillfully than Marc Jacobs with his gorgeous platform heels!

Let me know what your favorite thing about 90's is, and I hope that those won't be the flannel checked shirts!, Although, I do not have anything against them! Just there are so many other inspiring elements to choose from that cool decade!!! May Grunge live forever!!!
