This Summer I have more creative projects planned than any Summer before. In a crazy New York heat, with strong aversion to AC, it is very hard to concentrate and get brainstorming into action. Most of my summers in NYC were about traveling, seeing Shakespeare in the Park, having al fresco dinners on the rooftops, trips to the beach, etc. This summer is about working hard, getting ideas organized, reading as much as I can and getting as much done as possible.
Summer Playlist "Stay Focused" 2015 |
I wonder what keeps you going in the moments when you have to forget about entertainment and really focus; especially, those of you who are free-lancers, self-entrepreneurs, etc. In the summer when there are so many temptations out there, paraphrasing M.I.A.'s song, "It takes a muscle to work for yourself." What helps me is music. When I am writing, researching, looking for inspiration, I need to have a great variety of songs playing in the background. I have playlist for almost every possible occasion. The playlist that I am sharing here is quite a mishmash. The sources include NPR podcasts, movies, playlists of people I admire, Youtube discoveries and Spotify infatuations.
From Jamaican sounds, my favorite David Bowie's song from his last album, David Ramirez, my biggest discovery of this Summer, soul and jazz sounds from the seventies, forever amazing K.D. Lang and some other surprises, this music will not distract you, it will make you smile and maybe even cry at times and hopefully will motivate you to execute your Summer projects!!!
Share your music inspirations with me and don't forget to reveal the secrets of how you motivate yourself to accomplish your dreams!!!
