With the Memorial Day aproaching us next Monday, we can be sure that Summer is just around the corner. Soon, we will take vacations and if that is not in our plans this year, at least we can escape to the beach for a day. Summer fashion always excites me with its simplicity, beautiful and light textures and fabrics and lots of color and freedom that only this season allows for.

This Summer, I will be posting different Summer "capsules" from beach fashion, light Summer packing guides, through Summer interior inspirations and best books to enjoy while lounging by the pool or after a good swim in the lake. I hope that my first Summer focused post will help you prepare for the long weekend, inspire you to travel light and will add some color that we so much need after never-ending winter.

Fashion choices for long Summer weekends seem to be both super easy due to its light weight nature but can also overwhelm us with never ending varieties that stores tempt us with. However, at least in my experience, when we travel to warm destinations, and I so hope next weekend will be warm everywhere, all we need are just few basics that we can mix and match:

  • Airy world-traveller's famous tunic that we can easily slip into while going to the beach and also reuse in the evening when we adorn it with some accessories like a bohemian necklace, nice earrings or just great shoes.
  • Sandals or sliders (still big this Summer!) are the easiest and most comfortable choice to transform the look from casual to chic and also take almost no space in the bag.
  • Swimsuit, which accentuates the assets and makes us feel like jet-setters' life has always been our cup of tea.
  • Printed shorts that look great with white peasant blouse and simple t-shirt as well.
  • Staple accessories: great sunglasses, cute hat, nice ethnic bracelet, sunscreen (or after-sun toner mist, which will instantly refresh the skin), colorful towel and a small pouch when we can keep our valuables away from the sand and the most important, light and spacious bag (Canvas bags are the best for that occasions.)
  • A great beach read. This time I am very coastal fun-oriented, therefore the surfer's journey through Hawaii, Australia and Africa sounds as a very exciting choice.
You are all set for your first, non-official Summer weekend. Let me know what are your long Summer weekend essentials regardless of whether you are going away or just staying in and enjoying the local breeze!

Happy Summer!
